[ARCHIVED] Coquitlam’s Community Satisfaction Survey Underway

Coquitlam City Hall Coquitlam residents may be tapped to share their feedback on City services and priorities through the Community Satisfaction Survey underway from now until mid-June.

COQUITLAM, B.C., May 24, 2023 – Coquitlam residents may be tapped to share their feedback on City services and priorities through the Community Satisfaction Survey underway from now until mid-June.

The statistically-valid survey led by Ipsos, a global leader in market research, provides a valuable opportunity for residents to provide feedback on various City services, ranging from protective services to public works, and also provides the City data to measure attitudes on community issues, such as transportation and housing.

It is important for individuals to complete the survey as the results help inform future corporate planning processes including, for example, budgetingstrategic planning and business planning

New Process for Survey to Align with Evolving Best Practices

Recognizing evolving technology and the proliferation of mobile phones, this year, the survey methodology has been adjusted to have Ipsos randomly select residents to participate in the survey via landline or a mailed invitation.

In the past, Coquitlam residents received phone calls to a landline from Ipsos asking them to answer a series of questions or any interested member of the public could complete an online version of the survey. Despite best attempts to capture a snapshot of the entire community, there were obstacles that prevented participation for certain demographics – notably, the lack of landlines in many households.

Additionally, this year the survey will begin a new cycle to conduct the citywide survey every two years (rather than the previous annual survey) in order to reduce community engagement fatigue.

The results of the survey will be released in fall 2023 at coquitlam.ca/CommunitySurvey

Protecting Your Information and Avoiding Scams

Residents wishing to participate in the Community Satisfaction Survey should be vigilant against potential scams or fraudulent attempts claiming to be from the City. While the surveyors acting on behalf of Coquitlam may request demographic information such as age, employment status, income range or residency in order to ensure responses from a representative sample of Coquitlam residents, the City would never solicit banking or request money transfers as part of a survey process. In case of any suspicious communication, please contact 604-927-3918 or email engagement@coquitlam.ca to verify the authenticity of the request.
