COQUITLAM, B.C., October 17, 2023 – There are some exciting changes in store for recreation registration this year. On November 7, the registration period for winter recreation programs is launching with an expanded calendar that divides registration dates out by program type.
More registration days means more time to register for programs
To meet the growing demand for our recreation programs, registration start days will be separated into four major program categories: swimming, skating, camps and general recreation (including park programs and special events). This new process will make it easier for participants to register for more than one program type per season, as each category registration date focuses on a different activity group.
Another benefit is priority registration for Coquitlam residents, who will be able to register for programs 48 hours in advance of the general public. The new system will help ensure that Coquitlam’s residents—including the taxpayers who subsidize City recreation services—have the first opportunity to register for programs in their community.
To prepare for the upcoming registration period, we encourage all users to review their online registration account information ahead of registration. Make sure your address is complete and accurate including:
- Your street is spelled correctly and includes your house number and unit number for multi-dwelling units
- Coquitlam is spelled correctly with no abbreviations
- Your postal code is included
Registration Dates—Registration Opens at 8:30 a.m.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
