[ARCHIVED] Coquitlam Fitness and Recreation Goes Virtual

Missing your favourite drop-in fitness class or your child’s favourite after-school program? Take advantage of Coquitlam’s free online fitness and recreation resources.

COQUITLAM, B.C., March 31, 2020 – Missing your favourite drop-in fitness class or your child’s favourite after-school program? Take advantage of Coquitlam’s free online fitness and recreation resources.

The City is grateful to all Coquitlam residents who are following the advice of BC’s Provincial Health Officer and staying home to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

And, while our recreation facilities are currently closed to the public, Coquitlam’s recreation team is still committed to the health and well-being of our community.

Free Fitness Resources Available on City Website

The World Health Organization recommends that adults get 150 minutes – that’s 30 minutes at least five times per week – of moderate-intensity physical activity throughout the week.

Our fitness team is hard at work developing fitness tools to help you keep active, such as:

  • Instructional videos for all fitness levels
  • Written workout plans
  • Fitness tips

Find out more at www.coquitlam.ca/fitness.

Visit the page often for new workouts, or follow the City of Coquitlam on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for updates. You can also subscribe to us on YouTube to get a notification when we post new videos.

Family Recreation

Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained? We are developing a catalogue of activities and resources you can use to keep your family busy. Find them online at www.coquitlam.ca/onlinerec.

We Would Love to Hear your Ideas

Maintain Physical Distance in Coquitlam Parks and Trails

At this time, all City parks and trails remain open to the public. To ensure everyone stays safe, we have installed signage, and City staff are on-site, to remind everyone to maintain physical distance.

For your mental and physical health, you are encouraged to get outside and enjoy these amenities, but please maintain a physical distance of at least two metres (six feet) from anyone not from your household. At the Coquitlam Crunch and Lafarge Lake Loop trails, please also follow the directional signage. And if you are sick, please stay home.

Parents should note that all playgrounds, sport courts and fields, and skateparks are closed in order to help keep our children and youth at a safe physical distance from those not from their household.

Registration Dates and ONE PASS Memberships

Spring program registration has been deferred to April 8 (online) and April 9 (phone). Continue to check www.coquitlam.ca/covid19 or www.coquitlam.ca/registration for status updates on programs and registration.

All recreation programs between now and May 1 have been cancelled. Anyone pre-registered for a program during this time will receive a full and automatic refund.

As well, all ONE PASS membership holders will receive an extension on their pass equivalent to the duration of the facility closure.
