[ARCHIVED] Coquitlam Cancels Events in May, Assesses Others

Coquitlam has cancelled all May event bookings at City parks and facilities based on ongoing direction from B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer and the need to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

COQUITLAM, B.C., Mar. 27, 2020 – Coquitlam has cancelled all May event bookings at City parks and facilities based on ongoing direction from B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer and the need to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

On March 16, the City had previously advised that it was cancelling all event bookings and facility rentals until April 30, 2020.

Coquitlam staff are connecting directly with event organizers to inform them of the cancellations, offer full refunds and provide advice and support.

Events from June Forward Still a Go

Coquitlam has not yet cancelled any large event bookings scheduled after May, and is also continuing to plan the City’s popular annual summertime events such as Canada Day, Neighbourhood Nights, Summer Concert Series and Kaleidoscope.

However, this may change at any time based on public health directives.

The City will provide ongoing updates and reach out to community event organizers if further cancellations are required. Organizers are also advised to monitor the latest Provincial Health Officer limits on gathering sizes.
