[ARCHIVED] Apply for a Neighbourhood Small Grant

Little library Starting tomorrow, Coquitlam residents can apply for a Neighbourhood Small Grant of up to $500 to fund projects that bring people together, strengthen connections, or share skills within the community.

COQUITLAM, B.C., March 6, 2025 – Coquitlam residents can soon apply for a Neighbourhood Small Grant of up to $500 to fund projects that bring people together, strengthen connections, or share skills within the community. Applications are open from March 7 until April 30 at coquitlam.ca/NeighbourhoodGrants.

Bring Your Idea to Life

Neighbourhood Small Grants help remove financial barriers for small-scale community projects. Whether it’s a workshop, social gathering, or improvement initiative, these grants are exclusively for individuals or informal groups. All grant-funded projects or events must be offered free to participants.

Examples of past projects include:

  • Lending libraries
  • Recycling or upcycling events
  • Workshops on gardening, crafting, or Indigenous art
  • Community performances or sports events
  • Pollinator gardens or other environmental projects

Simple and Accessible Application

Applying is easy. Visit coquitlam.ca/NeighbourhoodGrants to start your online application. Successful applicants will be notified by email and receive funding shortly after confirmation. Projects should be completed by November 31, 2025, and participants are encouraged to share their experiences and photos online.

This program is a partnership between the City of Coquitlam, the Coquitlam Foundation, Vancouver Foundation, and the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC.

Building Stronger Communities with Grants

The Neighbourhood Small Grant program is part of Coquitlam’s ongoing efforts to build welcoming, connected communities through initiatives like block party grants, Neighbourhood Nights, and volunteer opportunities. For more information, visit our Welcoming Neighbourhoods webpage

While Neighbourhood Small Grants are intended for individuals, registered non-profit organizations can apply for the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant. Learn more and apply at coquitlam.ca/grants.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
