COQUITLAM, B.C., Dec. 11, 2020 – We’re being asked to stay close to home this holiday season and our recreation team has come up with lots of options to keep us active and entertained – and safe – while we stay and play in Coquitlam.
From now until the New Year, the City is offering a variety of holiday-themed and seasonal classes, workshops and activities, including free online events that allow us to stay physically apart but socially connected.
Festive Programming for All Ages
Looking to keep your little ones entertained? Pinetree Community Centre is offering Winter Break Camps from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the week of Dec. 21. Other offerings for those under age 12 include 45-minute holiday ornament crafting, cookie decorating and storytime sessions at Pinetree and Poirier Community Centres.
Options for older youth include Babysitters Training, Home Alone Camp and pre-registered drop-ins at the Getaway and Landing Youth Centres.
Adults can choose from holiday-themed workshops to craft table arrangements, hoop wreaths, Mason Jar floral arrangements, and gift tags and bags. Or sign up to learn something new, such as drawing, painting or cooking. Free online get togethers include a Holiday Sing-along and Variety Hour, Holiday Treats Show, and Holiday Traditions and Storytime. Movie buffs can look forward to viewing Elf, Deck the Halls, The Man Who Invented Christmas and the 1950s classic White Christmas in-person at Dogwood and Glen Pine Pavilions. For some entertainment, you can submit song requests and listen to a free Virtual Holiday Concert from local musician Michelle Carlisle.
Those looking for ice time have a wide range of skating options at Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex: Family, Youth, Female or Adult Stick and Puck; Youth Skate; Public Skating; and 50+ Adult Skate.

Keeping You Safe
Safety protocols are in place at all City facilities to ensure the safety of program participants and staff. In compliance with the Provincial Mask Mandate Order, masks are required in all indoor facilities with exemptions as outlined in the provincial Order. For example, a mask is not required when participating in a fitness activity, but it must be worn as you move around the facility.
Coquitlam Recreation is continually adapting to meet the requirements of updated Public Health Orders and we appreciate your patience as we may need to make last minute changes. If programs are cancelled due to Provincial Health Orders, customers will receive an account credit, or you can request a refund on your original method of payment. Please call 604-927-4386 for assistance.
