Coquitlam is helping local seniors stay busy and entertained over the holidays with a free Holiday Survival Guide.
COQUITLAM, B.C., Dec. 18, 2020 – Coquitlam is helping local seniors stay busy and entertained over the holidays with a free Holiday Survival Guide.
Packed with games, activities, recipes, wellness tips, trivia and more, the 30-page guide will be distributed next week through the City’s Meals for Seniors program and can be downloaded from www.coquitlam.ca/spirit. A limited number of printed copies will also be available for pickup starting on Monday, Dec. 21 at Dogwood and Glen Pine Pavilions on a first-come, first-served basis.
Recognizing that many seniors will be celebrating this year’s holidays alone, the City created the guide as part of its ongoing support for the community during the pandemic.
Staying Active and Engaged Over the Holidays
The Holiday Survival Guide features:
- A winter wellness checklist of activities to support physical, social and emotional health, and to prepare yourself and your home for winter weather;
- Colouring pages and a variety of brain teasers and games;
- Fun holiday trivia, recipes and craft ideas;
- Relaxation and stress-relief techniques for the mind and body; and
- Information about the City’s services for seniors and facility holiday hours.
While the guide was designed with seniors in mind, much of the content may be of interest to other adults looking to pass the time over the holidays.
Seniors or those who know someone who would benefit from the guide are encouraged to download copies from the 50 Plus section at www.coquitlam.ca/spirit, a free library of activities designed to help residents of all ages have fun, learn something, stay active and connect to resources while staying safe.
Coquitlam’s Stay and Play Guide, posted at www.coquitlam.ca/registration, also includes ideas to keep seniors, adults, youth and children active in December and over the holidays, including some free options.
