[ARCHIVED] Discount Period for Dog Licence Renewals Ends Jan. 31

Dog Licence PSA Charlie from the Coquitlam Animal Shelter wants to remind you that you have until Jan. 31 to receive a reduced rate on your dog licence renewals. Save time and renew online.

COQUITLAM, B.C., Jan. 11, 2021– Dog owners in the City of Coquitlam are reminded that 2020 dog licences expired on Dec. 31 and the discount period to renew is underway.

A dog licence is a valuable tool to help protect your pet by providing an easy-to-identify dog tag and registration with the Coquitlam Animal Shelter. If your dog gets out or is lost, the fastest way to be reunited with your family is to make sure it is validly licenced and wearing a licence tag on its collar.

Purchase or renew before Feb. 1 and receive a discounted rate. Proof of spay or neuter is required to receive a further discounted rate.

Fees

  • Spayed or neutered dogs until Feb. 1: $28
  • Spayed or neutered dogs after Feb. 1: $45
  • Non-spayed or non-neutered dogs until Feb. 1: $57
  • Non-spayed or non-neutered dogs after Feb. 1: $74

Pay Online

  • Go green and sign up to receive your renewal notice via email. Save time and pay online at www.coquitlam.ca/dogs.

Pay by Mail

  • If you received a renewal notice in the mail, payment by cheque, payable to “City of Coquitlam” can be mailed to the Coquitlam Animal Shelter (500 Mariner Way, V3B 7N2) or Coquitlam City Hall (3000 Guildford Way, V3K 7B6).

Pay in Person

  • While payment in person is discouraged due to public health concerns, it is available if you are not able to pay online. Payment can be made during business hours at the Coquitlam Animal Shelter (500 Mariner Way) or Coquitlam City Hall (3000 Guildford Way).

Dog licence fees help fund the Coquitlam Animal Shelter which houses stray and injured animals while staff work to find forever homes for them; fees also help pay for animal control and regulatory services associated with pet ownership.

All dogs over the age of six months are required to be licenced each year with the City of Coquitlam; Bylaw Enforcement Notice fines may be issued if your dog is found to be unlicenced.

About the Coquitlam Animal Shelter
Located at 500 Mariner Way, the Coquitlam Animal Shelter provides safe shelter to stray dogs, cats and other small animals. Annual dog licence fees support the animals at the shelter. Unclaimed pets receive medical care, vaccinations, an identifying tattoo or microchip, and are spayed or neutered before being available for adoption. The shelter also provides a private boarding facility offering a safe and reliable home away from home where quality care is a priority. Learn more at www.coquitlam.ca/animalshelter.
