Food vendors have returned to Town Centre Park for the summer as part of Coquitlam’s TCP Eats Program.
COQUITLAM, B.C., July 13, 2020 – Food vendors have returned to Town Centre Park for the summer as part of Coquitlam’s TCP Eats Program.
Back for a second year, the program brings a variety of foods – including ice cream, hot dogs, twist potatoes, pizza and more – to the heart of one of Coquitlam’s largest parks.
The food hub is at the centre of Town Centre Park east of Lafarge Lake in Parking Lot D, located off Trevor Wingrove Way. Food trucks or carts will be out on weekends from at least 1 to 8 p.m. until September and some vendors may be out during weekdays.
Park visitors can check out food choices at www.coquitlam.ca/TCPeats.
What’s on the Menu
Rocky Point Ice Cream will be providing its frozen treats onsite daily, alongside a rotation of five others to ensure a broad selection, including:
- Tornado Potato – twisted deep-fried potatos, zucchinis and yams on a stick
- Japadog – Japanese style gourmet hot dogs
- Gordo’s – mini doughnuts, smoothies and hot drinks
- The Jerk Shack – Caribbean-style street food
- Crazy Italian – pizza, fries, Italian sausage
This year’s vendors were selected through an application process for variety, appeal and fit with the location, clientele and community. All vendors are also required to meet the current COVID-19 public health protocols for food service.
Improvements for 2020
Based on feedback and the 2019 experience, changes for 2020 include a set list of vendors during peak times on weekends so parks visitors can plan ahead. Vendor information and food offerings can be viewed online at www.coquitlam.ca/TCPeats.
To support the businesses, the City offers a streamlined permitting process and no requirement to cost-share. Participants will be asked provide feedback at the end of the season so the City can continue to enhance the program.
Free Wi-Fi
Those spending time in Coquitlam parks may also want to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi available (see map at www.coquitlam.ca/wifi). The free Wi-Fi allows Coquitlam residents to get outdoors and remain socially connected while being able to access information and enjoy online events such as the Summer Concert Series, online recreation programming and other virtual programs.
