[ARCHIVED] Online Tool Brings Coquitlam Budgets to Life

Online Resident Newsflash Residents can see Coquitlam’s budget come to life with the City’s user-friendly online tool.

COQUITLAM, B.C., April 9, 2021 – Residents can see Coquitlam’s budget come to life with the City’s user-friendly online tool.

With the release of its public 2021-2025 Financial Plan Book, the City is encouraging the community to explore its budget using the Coquitlam OpenBook data visualization tool found at www.coquitlam.ca/openbook.

An alternative to dry two-dimensional charts and spreadsheets, the interactive online tool shares the City’s financial data with the public in an open, user-friendly and engaging way.

Interactive Ways to View City Budget Data

Using Coquitlam OpenBook, visitors can explore the City’s data through informational text and clickable maps, charts and graphs. The following categories are available:

  • 2021-2025 approved capital budgets, broken into budget groups;
  • 2021 capital project explorer, including maps, budgets and background details on 16 projects;
  • 2021 operating budget, broken down by department; and
  • 2019 Annual Report, the most recent audited financial statement data.

Users can search and filter within OpenBook to dig down into topics that interest them for more detailed information. Visitors are also invited to provide feedback through the form linked to the site’s menu bar.

For more information about the data viewed online, refer to the 2021 Financial Plan at www.coquitlam.ca/budget or contact Financial Planning staff at financialplanning@coquitlam.ca.
