Coquitlam Farmers Market will re-open for its 24th year in a temporary new spot.
COQUITLAM, B.C., April 27, 2021 – Local shoppers will soon have another place to find fresh local food, when Coquitlam Farmers Market re-opens for its 24th year in a temporary new spot.
Running Sundays May 2 to Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the weekly outdoor market has relocated to 575 Poirier St. – in the parking lot on the southeast side of Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
The new temporary location is across the street and a short walk from the market’s usual location, currently being used by Fraser Health’s Tri-City COVID-19 vaccination clinic.
What to Expect in 2021
Coquitlam Farmers Market is the same, much-loved opportunity to purchase fresh, seasonal produce and prepared local foods while supporting area growers and producers. While most of this year’s 50 to 55 vendors will feature food items, a few crafters and artisans have returned.
Similar to last year’s market, COVID-19 measures such as physical distancing and one-way travel will be in place to ensure the safety of customers and vendors. Some enhancements are being introduced for 2021; lineups will be positioned away from the flow of foot traffic, for example, and parking is available closer to this year’s site.
Volunteers and staff will also be on hand to help visitors and keep market traffic moving, and directional signs will go up in the neighbourhood on Sundays assisting customers to the new site and parking.
To ensure everyone stays safe and has a chance to shop, market customers are asked to:
- Visit alone or in groups of no more than two;
- Shop efficiently and leave once all your purchases have been made;
- Leave pets at home; and
- Wear masks.
