[ARCHIVED] Vaccine Requirements for Coquitlam Recreation Activities

COVID-19 - Update Starting on Monday, Sept. 13, proof of vaccination will be required for entry to certain places and programs in Coquitlam, as outlined by the provincial government.

COQUITLAM, B.C., Sept. 12, 2021 – Starting on Monday, Sept. 13, proof of vaccination will be required for entry to certain places and programs in Coquitlam, as outlined by the provincial government.

By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), some events, services and businesses are required to check proof of vaccination for those 12 years and older. As of Sept. 13, people wishing to access these businesses must be partially vaccinated with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. By Oct. 24, they will be required to be fully vaccinated.

Starting on Sept. 26, proof of vaccine must be provided using the BC Vaccine Card, along with a piece of government-issued photo ID for people aged 19 and older. From Sept. 13-25, a paper vaccine card may be used.

Vaccination Requirements for City Facilities

The City of Coquitlam continues to follow guidance and direction from the PHO and Fraser Health.

  • Swimming pools (Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex, City Centre Aquatic Complex, Eagle Ridge Outdoor Pool, Spani Outdoor Pool)
  • Arenas when not being used for an event or adult sport (22 years and older) (Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex, Poirier Forum)

Coquitlam a Leader during Pandemic Operations

Coquitlam was one of the first Metro Vancouver municipalities to successfully re-open facilities, including recreation programming and City Hall, beginning in June 2020. Coquitlam is also one of the few municipalities that was able to keep these important services open throughout subsequent waves of the pandemic, with the exception of PHO orders related to specific areas of the City’s business (e.g. indoor group fitness classes, adult non-fitness and sport programming, etc.).

Since the onset of the pandemic, the City of Coquitlam has been operating with sound operational health and safety plans in alignment with Provincial Health Orders and direction from WorkSafe BC.
