COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 22, 2021 – Portions of the Lafarge Lake Loop trail in Town Centre Park will be temporarily closed from Monday, Oct. 25 to Friday Oct. 29 for annual hazardous tree removal work.
A number of trees around the lake loop will be removed to maintain the safety and integrity of the trail for future use. These trees have been identified as hazardous by a certified arborist in an annual tree risk assessment for the area. Hazardous trees are either dead, in decline, leaning heavily or rotting.
Access to the trail will remain open during the temporary closure; a detour route will be provided. Signage notifying users of the trail closure will be posted around the lake. For further information about the closure, contact Parks Customer Service at 604-927-6300.
The removed trees will be replaced with more suitable long-term species.
