Home Decor Wall at Maison Pretty Living Tourism Coquitlam is inviting residents and visitors to explore and support local businesses this holiday season.

COQUITLAM, B.C., Nov. 16, 2021 – Tourism Coquitlam is inviting residents and visitors to explore and support local businesses this holiday season.

Kicking off Nov. 16, Coquitlam’s #SupportLocalCQ holiday campaign will get you in the spirit to support and discover local through social media, fun prizing and a new interactive gift guide at www.visitcoquitlam.ca/supportlocal

Submit Your Business to be Featured

Businesses interested in being featured at no charge in the Support Local Gift Guide may complete a form at www.coquitlam.ca/supportlocal for a chance to be showcased on the Tourism Coquitlam website and social media channels leading up to the winter holidays.

Through the #SupportLocalCQ campaign, Tourism Coquitlam is purchasing gift cards for prize giveaways, in addition to providing free promotion of local businesses on the Tourism Coquitlam website and social media. Our community loves to #Supportlocal and they are eager to learn more about your business.

Support Local to Win

Tourism Coquitlam will run weekly contests on social media throughout the campaign. To enter, follow Tourism Coquitlam (@visitcoquitlam) on social media and tag a friend to be entered to win $50 gift cards from local businesses. Plus look forward to a grand prize contest later in December. Details can be found at www.visitcoquitlam.ca/supportlocal.

Online Gift Guide Makes Shopping Easy

A project of Tourism Coquitlam, the new Shop Local Gift Guide at www.visitcoquitlam.ca/supportlocal is a showcase of 40-plus – and growing – local spots to find gifts or experiences for everyone on your list. Featuring Instagram galleries, the visual guide organizes businesses into themes, shows their location in Coquitlam and provides links to their website.

Prefer to shop from the comfort of home? Many local shops, restaurants and services now offer convenient online shopping with delivery or curbside pickup. And for those hard-to-buy-for people, gift cards are widely available.

Do Your Part for Local Businesses

Local businesses are the heart of Coquitlam, providing jobs, goods, services and investment in the community. Spread the word about the local businesses you visit by sharing photos and tagging them on social media, along with #SupportLocalCQ.

Other ways to Support Local:

  • Peruse local stores and services for presents or gift cards for loved ones, friends, coworkers and neighbours;
  • Buy groceries, household necessities and holiday meal fixings in the community;
  • Browse local shops for the perfect outfit and accessories for seasonal gatherings;
  • Enjoy a refreshment at a local café or pub while out shopping or running errands; and
  • Simplify mealtime with takeout, pick-up or dine-in options from local restaurants.
