[ARCHIVED] City Centre Aquatic Complex Expansion Project Now Complete

COQUITLAM, B.C., Nov. 22, 2021 – The renovation and expansion of the City Centre Aquatic Complex (CCAC) is now complete and the facility is fully reopened to the public.

The CCAC expansion project featured the addition of 250 square metres (2,690 sq. ft.) of new space as well as the renovation of 1,050 square metres (11,300 sq. ft.) of existing space, including multi-purpose rooms, meeting spaces, the administration area and, most notably, the fitness centre.

The larger fitness centre includes new equipment in a bright, reorganized space with more room for free weights and stretching now available. A brand new fitness studio with sprung wood floors and expanded multi-use rooms allow for increased group fitness at the facility, including spin classes with capacity for up to 20 participants.

Visitors to the facility will be greeted by a more welcoming lobby entrance. A new concession space in the lobby is set to open in early January 2022.

The improvements are expected to increase facility visits by 65,000 per year and allow for more services and programs, including additional room rental opportunities for meetings and birthday parties, 30 more aquatic leadership programs per year, and additional childminding hours.

A full listing of available programs, including pool and drop-in fitness schedules, can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/ccac. Participants should note that spin class participation will be through pre-registration while pre-registration is not required for other drop-in group fitness classes or to use the fitness centre. For proof of vaccination and mask requirements for City programs and activities, visit www.coquitlam.ca/covid19.

Discounts Available with ONE PASS

CCAC users can enjoy discounted drop-in rates with Coquitlam’s ONE PASS.

Relaunched in September with new options, the pass is valid at all indoor Coquitlam recreation facilities for drop-in indoor aquatics, arena, fitness and gym programs. The passes can be purchased in person at City recreation facilities or by phone at 604-927-4386. For information, visit www.coquitlam.ca/onepass.

Financial Assistance Available for Recreation

It’s now easier than ever to access financial support for Coquitlam’s recreation services. The City has relaunched a more user-friendly Financial Assistance for Recreation program – formerly known as Get Connected, Get Active – with easier sign-up and income verification plus more flexibility than ever.
