The renovation and expansion of the City Centre Aquatic Complex (CCAC) is now complete and the facility is fully reopened to the public.
COQUITLAM, B.C., Nov. 22, 2021 – The renovation and expansion of the City Centre Aquatic Complex (CCAC) is now complete and the facility is fully reopened to the public.
The CCAC expansion project featured the addition of 250 square metres (2,690 sq. ft.) of new space as well as the renovation of 1,050 square metres (11,300 sq. ft.) of existing space, including multi-purpose rooms, meeting spaces, the administration area and, most notably, the fitness centre.
The larger fitness centre includes new equipment in a bright, reorganized space with more room for free weights and stretching now available. A brand new fitness studio with sprung wood floors and expanded multi-use rooms allow for increased group fitness at the facility, including spin classes with capacity for up to 20 participants.
Visitors to the facility will be greeted by a more welcoming lobby entrance. A new concession space in the lobby is set to open in early January 2022.
The improvements are expected to increase facility visits by 65,000 per year and allow for more services and programs, including additional room rental opportunities for meetings and birthday parties, 30 more aquatic leadership programs per year, and additional childminding hours.
A full listing of available programs, including pool and drop-in fitness schedules, can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/ccac. Participants should note that spin class participation will be through pre-registration while pre-registration is not required for other drop-in group fitness classes or to use the fitness centre.
