COQUITLAM, B.C., Feb. 18, 2022 – Following the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) update on Gatherings and Events, the City of Coquitlam is taking steps to return some City programming, including recreation and events, to full capacity.
Effective Feb. 22, capacity restrictions have been lifted in City recreation facilities, although indoor masking and proof of vaccination requirements remain in place. Fitness centre access will be available on a drop-in basis without pre-registration, and recreation activities and programs, including pools and arenas, will return to normal capacity levels. While patrons will continue to see physical distancing markers in the facility, physical distancing has moved from being a requirement to a recommendation as part of facility COVID-19 safety plans. Capacity limits on indoor and outdoor gatherings, including spectator at events, have also been removed.
Proof of vaccination using the BC Vaccine Card continues to be required for those 12 years and older accessing recreational programs.
Proof of vaccination will not be required at the following:
- People 12 to 21 years of age who are participating in a program for children or youth before and after school programs
- Teachers/instructors providing education activities with their students in City facilities
- Rehab or exercise therapy programs
- Government activities and services, including voting
