[ARCHIVED] Coquitlam Animal Shelter Closed for In-person Visits June 11

Animal Shelter staff On Saturday, June 11 the Animal Shelter will be temporarily closed to the public.

COQUITLAM, BC, June 8, 2022 – On Saturday, June 11 the Animal Shelter will be temporarily closed to the public due to a scheduled power outage. The Animal Shelter will be without power for 12 hours starting at 8 a.m. to allow for electrical upgrades at the Austin Works Yard.

Bylaw dispatch staff will be temporarily relocated to ensure Bylaw Enforcement and Animal Services can receive and respond to community complaints and issues. Bylaw Officers will be on patrol and responding to calls for service in the community as usual, utilizing in-car computers, radios and cell phones.

Animal Shelter staff will be working to ensure the needs of the animals in our care continue to be our top priority.

Reporting Hours

Saturday, Sunday and Statutory Holidays 
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Monday through Friday
8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Residents needing to pay bylaw enforcement notices and dog licences can do so online at www.coquitlam.ca/onlineservices

The facility will reopen on Sunday, June 12 regular operating hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Animal Shelter Services

The Coquitlam Animal Shelter was built in June 2002 and has been providing animal care and bylaw enforcement services to the community for over 20 years. The facility includes an administration building with three cat rooms, two kennel buildings and a fenced dog exercise area. In addition to reuniting lost pets with their owners, animal services include kennel boarding, pet adoption, dog licensing, cat ID registration and contracted sheltering services to the two other municipalities in the Tri-Cities.
