Coquitlam's Major Recreation and Cultural Facilities Road Map
In July 2020, the City began development of a new Major Recreation and Cultural Facilities Road Map – a user-friendly document that will distil and map out the complex process of funding, designing, constructing and operating more than 25 planned facility projects contained in various City plans and strategies.
The draft road map will be presented to Council in summer 2021. In addition to providing a guiding plan for Council and City staff, the high-level document will provide more transparency for taxpayers by outlining the anticipated scheduling and costs to build, staff and run the facilities.
Read the staff report to learn more about the Road Map and upcoming major projects.
Recreation Centre Innovation Lecture Series
The City of Coquitlam hosted a four-part lecture series in June 2021 to discuss trends and innovations in public recreation facilities. These free, live-streamed and recorded events were focused on industry-specific topics.
Each lecture included locally and internationally practicing professionals in recreation who contributed their expertise in their respective fields. The discussions allowed for multiple perspectives on a range of different topics including designing for aquatics, sports, ice arenas, and seniors and youth.
The lectures are intended to be educational events that encourage collaboration of specializations, ideas, and visions for the future.
The video recordings of each session are included below. Thank you to everyone who participated in the series!
