Scavenger hunts, light up sports and caroling nights are just some of ways you can enhance your Lights at Lafarge experience this winter.
COQUITLAM, B.C., Dec. 1, 2022 – Scavenger hunts, light up sports and caroling nights are just some of ways you can enhance your Lights at Lafarge experience this winter.
Lots of Opportunities to Enjoy the Lights
Produced by the City of Coquitlam and presented by Coquitlam Centre, Lights at Lafarge is Metro Vancouver’s largest free outdoor winter lights display. The lights turn on at dusk and remain on to 11 p.m. nightly until mid-February, and through midnight on New Year’s Eve.
For the best Lights at Lafarge viewing experience, skip the crowds by coming before 6 p.m. or after 8 p.m. on weeknights and avoiding weekends. It’s a great photo opportunity any time you go—make sure to post your pictures on social media tagging #lightsatlafarge and #explorecoquitlam.
Visitors can also check out the winter lights display at Mackin Park (1046 Brunette Ave.) in the main plaza area at the north end of the park. This is a great option for those who want to enjoy a winter lights display without the crowds.

Light seekers who join us throughout the season can enhance their experience with free pop-up activities at the Park Spark Zone at the TD Community Plaza. Jingle Bells Night
It will be anything but a silent night on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Lafarge Lake as Coquitlam hosts Jingle Bells Night. The annual event is set to return with carolers filling Town Centre Park for a seasonal sing-a-long, complete with roving mascots, hot chocolate and lots of photo opportunities for that perfect selfie.
Caroling groups will be stationed at the Park Spark Zone at the TD Community Plaza, filling the lake with the sound of holiday cheer. If you’re part of a caroling group that wants to get involved in this fun event, email parkspark@coquitlam.ca.
Getting to Lights at Lafarge and Mackin Park
While there is some on-site parking at Town Centre Park, the Lights at Lafarge are popular and can get busy. Event-goers are encouraged to walk, carpool or take transit. Use Translink’s Trip Planner or ride the SkyTrain to the Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station for easy access to Town Centre Park.
Located in historic Maillardville, Mackin Park (1046 Brunette Ave.) is accessible by transit and also has parking available on the east side of the park off King Edward St. and on the west side off Nelson St.
