[ARCHIVED] Improvements to Gatensbury Street Begin in June

Road work construction sign

COQUITLAM, BC, June 7, 2022 – Major safety and mobility improvements on Gatensbury Street are set to begin the week of June 13.

The upgrades and improvements on this important collector road and well-used walking and cycling route will take approximately six-months.

Enhancing Safety and Mobility

This project will bring new curbs and gutter, sidewalks, a multi-use pathway, crosswalks, lighting, landscaping and other upgrades improving accessibility and safety for road users, pedestrians and cyclists. Information can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/gatensbury.

The multi-use pathway will run along the west side of Gatensbury, and will connect from Como Lake Park to the existing multi-use pathway in Port Moody. TransLink is contributing funding to the pathway component of this project, which will provide a key pedestrian/cyclist link for Coquitlam.

Construction Impacts

Traffic flow and street parking will be affected throughout construction. Drivers should use an alternate route to avoid delays. Most of the construction work will be scheduled for Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., although some work may take place Saturday.

The Gatensbury Avenue improvement project is anticipated to be completed by winter 2022. Questions may be directed to Public Works Liaison, at pwl@coquitlam.ca or 604-927-3507.
