COQUITLAM, B.C., April 25, 2023 – The Austin Heights Business Improvement Association continues to provide strong business and neighbourhood support as it renews its mandate with the City of Coquitlam.

Coquitlam Council recently renewed the City bylaw that enables a local area service tax within the Austin Heights Business Improvement Area. Through this bylaw, the City is able to direct funding to the Austin Heights Business Improvement Association to support its business improvement, promotional and economic development initiatives.

Established in 2008, the Austin Heights Business Improvement Association has enhanced the vitality and vibrancy of Coquitlam’s Austin Heights area through events, safety and beautification initiatives – including graffiti removal, holiday lighting and a street banner program –and partnerships that support the vitality of the neighbourhood and local business community.

Local Business Support Validates Business Improvement Association

Bolstering the City’s decision to renew the bylaw was strong support from the majority of property owners in the Austin Heights area. Since its inception 15 years ago, the Austin Heights Business Improvement Association has established itself as a major community partner by supporting the interests of the businesses of Austin Heights, as well as those of the local neighbourhood and broader Coquitlam community. The Business Improvement Association provides a cost-effective way for local businesses to cooperate and ensure mutual success in the current highly competitive business environment.

By leveraging existing partnerships, like the one with the Austin Heights Business Improvement Association, the City can promote Coquitlam as a desirable business location and establish a unique and authentic local identity.
