The Zolas and Current Swell Kick off Kaleidoscope Arts Festival

Band performing on the TCP Community Plaza stage

COQUITLAM, B.C., June 19, 2023 – Celebrate arts and culture in Coquitlam as two local B.C. indie rock bands – The Zolas and Current Swell – kick off Coquitlam’s Kaleidoscope Arts Festival with a free outdoor concert on Friday, August 18.

Coquitlam’s eighth annual arts festival returns August 18 and 19 with activities at two City parks: live music August 18 at Town Centre Park, and performances and hands-on experiences August 19 at Blue Mountain Park.

Something for All Ages and Interests

This year’s Kaleidoscope festival offers two different venues and vibes to explore:

  • For a concert experience with food trucks and live music, join us August 18 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the festival hub at Town Centre Park, 1299 Pinetree Way. Bring your own chairs or blanket and watch The Zolas – a JUNO-nominated indie rock band from Vancouver, and Current Swell – a world-renowned indie rock band from Victoria, perform on the Town Centre Park Plaza Stage overlooking beautiful Lafarge Lake.
  • Immerse yourself in the arts on August 19, 12 to 4 p.m. at Blue Mountain Park, 975 King Albert Ave. Get creative with hands-on arts activities, watch music and cultural dance performances, participate in cultural workshops and sample food vendor fare.

Watch for more details about the events at coquitlam.ca/kaleidoscope and the City’s social media channels during July and August, as we provide updates on performers, food trucks, and art activities and other participants.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-kwuh-tlum) meaning Red Fish Up the River. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the sq̓əc̓iy̓aɁɬ təməxʷ (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
