More Registration Dates for Winter Recreation

COQUITLAM, B.C., October 17, 2023 – There are some exciting changes in store for recreation registration this year. On November 7, the registration period for winter recreation programs is launching with an expanded calendar that divides registration dates out by program type.

More registration days means more time to register for programs

To meet the growing demand for our recreation programs, registration start days will be separated into four major program categories: swimming, skating, camps and general recreation (including park programs and special events). This new process will make it easier for participants to register for more than one program type per season, as each category registration date focuses on a different activity group.

Another benefit is priority registration for Coquitlam residents, who will be able to register for programs 48 hours in advance of the general public. The new system will help ensure that Coquitlam’s residents—including the taxpayers who subsidize City recreation services—have the first opportunity to register for programs in their community.

To prepare for the upcoming registration period, we encourage all users to review their online registration account information ahead of registration. Make sure your address is complete and accurate including:

  • Your street is spelled correctly and includes your house number and unit number for multi-dwelling units
  • Coquitlam is spelled correctly with no abbreviations
  • Your postal code is included

Registration Dates—Registration Opens at 8:30 a.m.

Coquitlam Residents

  • Swimming: Tuesday, November 7
  • Skating: Tuesday, November 14
  • Camps: Tuesday, November 21
  • General: Tuesday, November 28

Non-Residents

  • Swimming: Thursday, November 9
  • Skating: Thursday, November 16
  • Camps: Thursday, November 23
  • General: Thursday, November 30

All programs are viewable online at coquitlam.ca/registration at least four days in advance of registration. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. online, in-person and over the phone. Call 604-927-4386 or register in-person at most recreation facilities.

Financial Assistance Available for Recreation

It is now easier than ever to access financial support for Coquitlam’s recreation services. The City’s Financial Assistance for Recreation program is more user-friendly with a much simpler application process and income verification, and more flexibility than ever. Each year, qualifying Coquitlam residents will receive 50 free drop-in visits plus a $225 credit they can use for an expanded range of admissions, passes, programs, lessons, exam fees, supplies, rentals and more. For details or to register online, visit coquitlam.ca/FinancialAssistanceRec.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
