COQUITLAM, B.C., December 20, 2023 – Help reduce waste and support a local community group by disposing of your natural Christmas tree at a tree-chipping event in Coquitlam.
These tree-chipping events are by donation and help raise funds for group activities and programs, as well as support Coquitlam’s waste management goals in our Environmental Sustainability Plan.
Tree-Chipping Options
The City of Coquitlam is happy to support the following groups as they help our community give their natural Christmas trees back to nature.
Organization: Friends of Mundy Park
Location: Mundy Park – Hillcrest Parking Lot, 641 Hillcrest Street
Dates: Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Organization: Coquitlam Kinsmen
Location: Town Centre Park – Lot A
Dates: Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7
Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Organization: Scouts francophone de Maillardville
Location: Canadian Tire Parking Lot, 1200 Seguin Drive
Date: Saturday, January 6
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Please ensure trees are free of any stands, decorations, tinsel or flocking.
Natural Christmas Trees Also Accepted in Green Carts
Natural Christmas trees can also be placed in your Green Cart as long as they are free of all tinsel, decorations and flocking, and are cut in 1-metre lengths with branches a maximum 10 cm in diameter, and the Green Cart lid is completely closed.
Other Tree Recycling Options
Whole or cut trees that are free of any stands, decorations, tinsel or flocking can also be dropped off at the United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre, 995 United Boulevard. This service is free for Coquitlam residents with proof of residency.

Coquitlam finalized an Environmental Sustainability Plan in January 2022 that guides decisions and ensures the long-term resiliency and sustainability of the community. The Environmental Sustainability Plan is organized into five themes: Climate Action, Built Environment, Waste Management, Water Management and Natural Areas, Wildlife and Habitat.
