COQUITLAM, B.C., June 10, 2020 – Coquitlam has started taking registrations for outdoor recreation programs offered in July and there are a number of kids’ half-day camps and fitness classes still available.
The paid camps with up to six participants take place in Coquitlam parks and sports fields, and have been designed to ensure physical distancing and meet all health requirements. This includes regular handwashing, as well as individualized supplies and sanitizing shared equipment.
Currently, there are half-day camps for various weeks throughout July available (9 - noon and 1 - 4 p.m.) at Blue Mountain Park, Panorama Heights, Smiling Creek, Town Centre Park and Victoria Park.
We also have some spaces for adult Fit 360 fitness classes with two sets in June: Tuesday, June 16-30 (3 sessions) and Thursday, June 18-July 2 (3 sessions); and then two sets in July: Tuesday, July 7-28 (4 sessions) and Thursday, July 9-July 30 (4 sessions). These classes incorporate a full-body workout with diverse weight training and high-energy cardio routines. Classes run outdoors at Percy Perry Stadium in Town Centre Park. Registration is required (June sessions $15/July sessions $20.)
More programming may be added throughout the summer based on participant feedback and in alignment with recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Restart Plan.

Public Health Will Remain the Priority
As is necessary in these uncertain times, the plans are flexible and the City is prepared to scale back or modify them as required to protect public health. For any City programming going forward:
- Any participant or staff displaying symptoms of any kind will be sent home;
- All programs will ensure physical distancing of at least two metres (six feet), groups sizes as directed by health officials, and no sharing of equipment that is not disinfected;
- Handwashing and good hygiene practices, such as coughing into a sleeve, will be emphasized;
- Common touchpoints (such as shared items and handles) will be minimized as much as possible.
- Heightened cleaning and sanitation protocols will be in place; and
- All appropriate safety standards recommended will be applied.
