[ARCHIVED] Large New Regional Depot Adds to Coquitlam Recycling Options

United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre Coquitlam residents wanting to up their recycling game will want to check out the expansive new regional depot opening next week on United Boulevard.

COQUITLAM, B.C., March 8, 2022 – Coquitlam residents wanting to up their recycling game will want to check out the expansive new regional depot opening next week on United Boulevard.

Metro Vancouver’s new United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre opens Monday, March 14 at 995 United Blvd., a kilometre west of the existing Coquitlam Recycling and Waste Centre. The Coquitlam Recycling and Waste Centre located at 1200 United Boulevard will close Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m.  and there will be no service available at either facility on Sunday, March 13.

With reduced wait times, better traffic flow and three times the recycling space, the new regional facility will offer Coquitlam residents a convenient new centre with enhanced recycling and waste drop-off options, in addition to the City’s various curbside recycling programs and Town Centre Depot.

Coquitlam residents are avid recyclers, diverting 71 per cent of household waste from landfills through recycling and green waste programs, compared to a regional average of 64 per cent.

Features of New Regional Facility

Operating on 6.2 hectares (15.5 acres) of land, the new facility will continue to serve residential and commercial customers for recycling, garbage and green waste, including free green waste drop-off for Coquitlam residents with proof of residency – details on this program can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/yardtrimmings

The new facility will feature a large full-service recycling depot, located ahead of the weigh scales, for the free drop-off of recyclables including flexible plastic packaging, plastic bags, beverage containers, cardboard, books, textiles, batteries, expanded polystyrene, light fixtures, cooking oil, paint products, pesticides and gasoline, propane tanks and electronics and more.

A link to the new facility can be found here, United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre.
