News Flash

COQUITLAM, B.C., April 29, 2021 – Coquitlam's Eagle Ridge and Spani outdoor pools will open for the season on Sunday, May 2 by pre-registration only.

Starting Friday, April 30, Coquitlam’s outdoor pools will accept bookings for individual and family swims. Pre-registration will be required to limit capacity and ensure physical distancing, with enhanced cleaning and other measures to protect the safety of staff and the public.

Full details at www.coquitlam.ca/outdoorpools.

Swimming Bookings Available

Individual Length Swim

  • A 40-minute booking for lap swimming; a double lane will be shared by four swimmers (must be seven or older to swim without adult supervision).

Family Swim

  • A 40-minute double-lane booking for two to four people from the same household.
  • Only main contact needs to register and can bring up to three immediate family members for the swim.

Admissions are: $1 – child, youth, senior, super senior, $2 – adult; $5 – family; paid online during the booking process at www.coquitlam.ca/registration.

Coquitlam’s Spray Parks will open the Victoria Day long weekend, May 22 – 24.

Accessibility Ramp at Eagle Ridge Pool

Patrons with limited mobility issues who prefer or require entry to the pool via a gradual slope of a ramp as opposed to using a ladder will be able to do so this year at Eagle Ridge Pool.

An accessibility, 10m long, gradually sloping ramp is available for patrons in wheel chairs or others with mobility issues. Anyone who prefers to enter the pool via ramp can use it to get into the pool.

Guidelines for all Pool Bookings

  • The pool openings meet all provincial and WorkSafeBC guidelines and public health protocols.
  • B.C. Centre for Disease Control has stated that there is no evidence COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas or water play areas. All potential users are reminded to stay home when feeling sick.
  • Changerooms will be available for use after swim only; users will be expected to wear their swimsuits when entering the pool and place their belongings in the bin provided at the end of their lane.
  • Swimmers will be asked to arrive five to 10 minutes before their scheduled time, confirm their registration, rinse off if shower was not taken at home before swim and then enter the pool.
  • Masks are required to be worn at all times when waiting in line and when moving around the facility. Mask is to be taken off just before entering the pool and put on right after getting out of the pool.
  • All touchpoints, such as shower handles and bathroom doorknobs, will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between sessions.
  • Users will be asked to leave promptly after their session to allow cleaning time before the next group.
  • Dive boards will be open on request and available to one person or one family at the time.
  • Kickboards and lifejackets will be available. Personal swimming workout gear (fins, hand paddles, etc.) will be permitted.
