City-Owned Land Sales

The City of Coquitlam strategically acquires and sells lands in a way that ensures maximum benefit to the community. Land-sale proceeds are reinvested in the community, with a portion of each sale set aside for future strategic purchases.

Coquitlam’s City Lands Division represents the City as land and property owner and provides advice and assistance in the leasehold and freehold purchase and sale of City-controlled real estate assets.

Please check this webpage periodically to view lands available for purchase.

Land Management Principles

The City strives to create and maintain sustainable land-based resources, both land inventory and land reserve funds, for the benefit of the community now and in the future. Coquitlam’s City Lands team is guided by the following principles:

  • Strategically acquires and disposes of lands in a way that ensures maximum benefit to the community.
  • Establish and manage a long-term land-based resource within the existing Land Sales Reserve (LSR) fund to ensure the proceeds of the City’s land sales benefit the community.
  • Sets aside a portion of the ongoing land sale proceeds for the strategic acquisition and development of properties within Coquitlam.
  • Borrow internally from the LSR for projects that benefit the community, with re-payment of those proceeds over a pre-defined period of time with interest.
  • Actively pursue opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships as a means to achieve maximum benefit from City lands.
