Caring for Our Cemetery Together - Adornments and Care

Cemetery adornments hold deep meaning for families, and we want to ensure the grounds remain safe, respectful, and well cared for. The City’s cemetery bylaw allows only items placed directly on the marker or in designated vases. Potted plants, decorations on the grass, and items made of glass or plastic are not permitted, as they can create safety concerns and challenges for staff maintaining the grounds.

Any items that are removed and still in good condition are bagged, tagged, and placed on a shelf for pick-up in the cemetery office. Families are also welcome to bring flowers, candles, or other personal items during visits, provided they are taken home when leaving.
